Trying to sum up our dad George is almost impossible. Unique? Different? Funny? Loud? Bold? Uninhibited? Kind? Giving? You could go on and on and barely begin. He was one of a kind which is why we're all missing him so badly.
Dad had no interest in a funeral or in anything formal. He was very specific: he wanted us all to have a party with great music (preferably jazz), great food (fried chicken and ribs, please), and lots of laughter and crying. So this is what we're going to do. His birthday is on Saturday May 3rd, so we're going to give him the biggest, best birthday party ever. We haven't figured out any other details yet, so check back on this page for updates.
****UPDATE*** The party to celebrate George's birthday will be:
Saturday, May 3rd
2:30 - 4:30
Craftsman Wood Fired Pizza
148 East Yorba Linda Blvd, Placentia CA 92870
We'll have BBQ ribs and fried chicken that George would have loved Dessert will be available afterwards a Laurel Ayer's house for anyone interested - directions will be available at the party.
Dad wouldn't want flowers, but he'd love donations to one of his favorite charities:
* Free Wheelchair Mission: http://www.freewheelchairmission.org * Doctors Without Borders: www.doctorswithoutborders.org * FINCA: www.finca.org
Everyone has a story or two about George. Please share *your* favorite George story in the guestbook. Hopefully we can all make each other laugh over all of the strange things we've come across knowing him over the years.
